After making a stunning debut by scoring match winning fifty for India Under-19 against Nepal, new batting sensation of J&K, Qamran Iqbal on Friday scored brilliant 89 run knock as India Under-19 B defeated Afghanistan by two wickets in the match of U-19 Quadrangular one-day series at Ekana International Cricket Stadium B, Lucknow.
Qamran Iqbal was highest scorer for India B as they chased a target of 239 runs set by Afghanistan. Qamran’s inning included 10 fours and 2 sixes, but he missed a well deserved century by 11 runs.
Batting first Afghanistan put a total of 238 runs for the loss of 9 wickets on board. In reply, India B reached the target in the last losing eight wickets during the chase. Despite Qamran playing a vital role in his team’s win, yet the man of the match award went to Afghanistan’s Reyaz Hassan for scoring 100 runs.
Earlier Qamran Iqbal, who is considered to be the next big thing in J&K’s cricket, had bagged man of the match award in his debut match for India Under-19 B side against Nepal by scoring 50 runs.
Pertinently, India B is set to clash with India A on Sunday in its next match of the series.
